The 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League has been hit by rain for the second day in a row. The much-awaited clash between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Guwahati has been delayed due to continuous showers at the Barsapara Stadium.
Because of the rain, the toss has not taken place yet, and the start of the match has been pushed back. It had been raining heavily in the city throughout the day, making conditions difficult for play.
What will be the cut-off time for a five-over clash?
To make sure the game produces a result, both teams need to bat for at least five overs each. There is no reserve day during the league stage, so if the match cannot be played at all, both teams will share one point each.

As per the match rules, no overs will be lost for the first hour, which is until 8:30 PM IST. After that, the match can be shortened if needed. The latest a five-over game can begin is 10:56 PM IST, and the toss must happen by 10:46 PM IST. If the ground is still not ready by then, even if the rain stops, the match will be called off.
KKR vs PBKS ended without result
This comes just a day after the game between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) was washed out. In that match, only 3.4 overs were possible at Eden Gardens, with KKR at 25-2 before rain stopped play. Although the rain eased shortly before the cut-off time, the ground could not be made ready in time.
