In T20 cricket, Virat Kohli became the second player and the first Indian to attain the 100-fifty milestone. On Sunday, April 13's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the 36-year-old achieved the milestone. The other player to reach 100 fifties in T20 cricket is David Warner, who is presently playing for the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. When Australia played the West Indies at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart in February of last year, Warner accomplished the feat.
The batting maestro Kohli scored his half-century off 39 balls on Sunday. With a huge six down the ground off Wanindu Hasaranga, who had taken Fazalhaq Farooqi's spot in the RR playing XI, he hit his 100th T20 fifty.
Players with the most fifties in T20s
David Warner - 108
Virat Kohli - 100
Babar Azam - 90
Chris Gayle - 88
Jos Buttler - 86
With three fifties, a top score of 67, and 248 runs from six games at an average of 62 and a strike-rate of 143.35 against the Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Kohli has had an outstanding campaign thus far. Kohli also became the second-fastest batsman to reach the 13000-run mark in T20 cricket in that same encounter against MI. While the renowned Chris Gayle reached the milestone in 381 innings, he did so in his 386th.
The record is held by Gayle, who accomplished the feat while playing for the Jamaica Tallawahs against the Barbados Tridents in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The other batters to reach 13,000 runs in T20 cricket are Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik, and Alex Hales. Additionally, Kohli was instrumental in India's Champions Trophy 2025 triumph.
