A security breach occurred during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 opener clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) held on Saturday, March 23 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. A fan, driven by an overwhelming desire to meet cricket icon Virat Kohli, bypassed security measures and entered the field of play.

The enthusiastic fan's actions were captured on video, revealing him rushing towards Kohli, the IPL's all-time leading run-scorer. Upon reaching the celebrated batter, the fan touched Kohli's feet in a gesture of reverence and proceeded to embrace him.
Right after the incident, security personnel intervened and escorted the individual out of the stadium. The video footage of this interaction quickly gained traction and circulated widely across various social media platforms. Later the fan had to bear the brunt for the security breach as he has now been arrested after the incident.

Virat Kohli's batting masterclass was on full display as he led RCB to an emphatic seven-wicket win over the defending champions KKR.
