South Africa's Kagiso Rabada has ascended to the top spot in the ICC Men's Test Player Rankings, displacing India's Jasprit Bumrah. India's star pacer has dropped to third in the ICC's Test bowlers' rankings which was released on Wednesday, October 30.
Jasprit Bumrah is no more World no.1 Test bowler
Rabada's impressive performance in the ongoing World Test Championship, including his 300th Test wicket against Bangladesh, has propelled him to the top position. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah's wicketless performance in the second Test against New Zealand has led to a two-place drop. He is now ranked third, behind Australia's Josh Hazlewood, who has moved up to the second spot.
India's ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also dropped down in the bowling rankings, dropping two places to the fourth position. Australian captain Pat Cummins completes the top five bowlers.
Noman Ali from Pakistan has made a significant entry into the top 10. His exceptional performance in the recent Test series against England in Rawalpindi has propelled him into the elite group.
New Zealand's match-winner, Mitchell Santner, has achieved a career-best ranking in the latest ICC Men's Test Player Rankings. His impressive 13-wicket haul in the series-clinching victory over India in Pune has propelled him 30 places up to 44th in the Test bowling rankings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal surge in Test rankings
In the batting rankings, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has climbed one spot to third. His contributions of 30 and 77 against New Zealand have solidified his position as India's top-ranked Test batter. However, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli have experienced a slight decline in their rankings. Rishabh Pant has slipped five places to 11th, while Virat Kohli has dropped six places to 14th in the latest Test batting rankings. On the other hand, New Zealand's Devon Conway, Tom Latham, and Glenn Phillips, along with South Africa's Kyle Verreynne, have made significant gains, climbing eight, six, sixteen, and fourteen places respectively.
In the Test all-rounder rankings, India's Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin continue to dominate, holding the first and second positions. Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan has made notable progress, climbing two places to third after his impressive all-round performances against South Africa.
