Young batter Yash Dhull played a fluent innings of 70 runs from just 59 balls, while Ayush Doseja continued his strong run with an unbeaten 62 as Delhi took a massive 329-run lead against Himachal Pradesh on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Group D match
The day was ended early because of bad light, with Delhi reaching 196 for 4 in only 32 overs. The quick partnership between Dhull and Doseja added 125 runs in just 19.3 overs.
Delhi's bowling vs Himachal
Earlier, Delhi had bowled out Himachal Pradesh for 297 in their first innings, gaining a lead of 133 runs. Navdeep Saini took 3 wickets for 52, and young Money Grewal picked up 2 for 47.
Delhi's second innings batting
Delhi are aiming for six points and might declare at their overnight score to have enough time on the final day to push for an outright win.
When Delhi came out to bat in the second session, they were looking to score quickly but lost three wickets for just 53 runs. Dhull then joined left-hander Doseja, and after a few quiet overs, the pair began to find their rhythm.
Yash Dhull's performance on Day 3
Dhull started playing some crisp shots square of the wicket, while Doseja used clever touches to keep the scoreboard moving. As the light began to fade, both batsmen increased their scoring rate.
Himachal captain Ankush Bains spread the field to slow the flow of boundaries, but Dhull still managed to pierce the gaps between deep point and deep extra cover off pacer Vaibhav Arora.
The best shot of the day came when Dhull bent his knee and slog-swept off-spinner Mukul Negi for a six into the extra cover stands. Dhull’s innings included eight fours and two sixes, while Doseja hit eight boundaries.
After Dhull got out, Doseja kept the momentum going with Anuj Rawat at the other end, but the light became too poor to continue, and the umpires called off play for the day.
