Shivam Dube took 110 balls to bring his stunning century in the Ranji Trophy match.

Shivam Dube scored century for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy match against UP.

Shivam Dube, fresh from being named the Player of the Series in the recent T20I series against Afghanistan, continued his impressive form in First-Class cricket. Scoring his third century for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh, Shivam Dube entered the fray with Mumbai at a precarious 67/5. He then partnered with Shams Mulani to guide Mumbai beyond the 230-run mark. Dube's performance lately has been exceptionally strong.

Completing his century in just 110 deliveries, Dube maintained a high strike rate throughout his innings. His effort was instrumental in rescuing Mumbai from a precarious position and steer them to secure a lead of over 100 runs against Uttar Pradesh. Dube had previously displayed his batting prowess in the T20I series against Afghanistan, where he hit back-to-back half-centuries in the first two matches.

Looking ahead, Shivam Dube is emerging as a strong contender for a spot in the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to start on June 1 and will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States. If he continues his impressive form in the IPL 2024 playing for MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dube could very well find himself part of the T20 World Cup team in the USA and the Caribbean Islands.

Shivam Dube's blitzkrieg

Dube hit a fiery century against Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy, reaching the three-figure mark in just 110 balls, a crucial innings that came at a time when Mumbai was in a tough spot at 67/5. Mumbai lead Elite Group B with three wins from three matches, while Uttar Pradesh is in fifth place, having drawn all three of their games so far. Dube expressed his joy upon achieving his century in this match.

In First-Class cricket, Dube has an impressive track record, amassing over 1200 runs at an average of 46.04, including three centuries and eight half-centuries. He has also claimed 47 wickets in 30 innings, averaging 21.61 and has two five-wicket hauls to his credit in domestic red-ball cricket. However, he is still awaiting his debut in India's red-ball team.

Dube plays a key role for Chennai Super Kings and his performance in the upcoming IPL season will be crucial. His IPL showing could be a determining factor for his inclusion in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup, set to take place right after the IPL in June, will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA.
