Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting government's approval to green-lit the white-ball tour in August 2025.
India are scheduled to play a three-ODI and three-T20I series on Bangladesh soil this year. The ODI series will mark the return of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli's first appearance on international stage since their retirement from Test cricket. Due to unrest in Bangladesh, there have been question marks on the tour. BCB president wishes that the series goes on as scheduled.
"We're having positive discussions with the BCCI," Aminul told the media as quoted by Cricbuzz, following the 19th board meeting held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on June 30.
"It's not like (hosting India) in August or September, we are having discussions how we can do the series and if we cannot host it now we will do it at another possible time. They (BCCI) are waiting for some government clearance," he added.
Additions to selection panel to be made soon
BCB president made a few other announcements as well. Animul revealed that they are looking to add another selector to the men's selection panel which currently comprises of Gazi Ashraf and Abdur Razzak.
"We are also looking to add another selector in the national selection panel as it is difficult for two selectors to cover everything," said Animul.
BCB intends to include a woman selector for women's team as well. The current setup has only one selector -- Sazzad Ahmed -- for the women's team selection.
"We have decided to include women selectors for the national women's team soon," Aminul said after the meeting.
