Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna suffered a quadriceps injury during Karnataka's ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Gujarat at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The injury occurred on the first day of the match, leading Krishna to leave the field after bowling 14.5 overs in Gujarat's first innings. Karnataka's Vijaykumar Vyshak completed the remaining delivery of Prasidh's over.

Before exiting the match, Prasidh had successfully taken the wickets of Gujarat batters Manan Hingrajia and Siddharth Desai. According to a PTI report, Prasidh is unlikely to participate further in the ongoing match, as quadriceps injuries typically require a recovery period of approximately four to six weeks.

Currently, Prasidh is under the care of Karnataka's medical team, and he also has the option to consult with the medical staff of the India A team, which is playing a two-day match against England Lions in Ahmedabad.

The lanky pacer was not named in India's squad for the first two Test matches against England. The squad was announced on January 12.

Prasidh, known for his pace, recently made his mark in the Indian Test squad during India's tour of South Africa, where he made his debut in the longest format of the game. Despite this achievement, he faced challenges during the series, securing only two wickets and yielding runs at a high average.

Furthermore, Prasidh also participated in the T20I series against Australia, where he set an unwanted record for the worst bowling figures by an Indian in T20 internationals. During the third T20I at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, he ended up with figures of 4-0-68-0. In this high-scoring match, Australia successfully chased down a target of 223 runs, with Glenn Maxwell achieving a century. In the final over, Prasidh was tasked with defending 21 runs but was unable to contain Maxwell's onslaught, resulting in a five-wicket victory for Australia.
