'Ask a better question...': Ishan Kishan's reaction to Kirti Azad criticising taking T20 World Cup 2026 trophy to Hanuman temple

Called up to the side ahead of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Ishan Kishan repaid selectors, team management and skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s faith with impact knocks in the tournament. In the final, he scored a blazing fifty, helping set a platform for a huge score against New Zealand. As India defended the T20 World Cup title, Ishan Kishan received a grand welcome in Patna, Bihar. During a conversation with the media, the top-order batter was asked about 1983 World Cup-winning member Kirti Azad criticising skipper Suryakumar, head coach Gautam Gambhir, ICC chairman Jay Shah, taking the trophy to Hanuman temple. Kishan wasn't pleased with the reporter's question. 

"(Kuch acha sawaal kijiye na) Ask a better question..." Kishan told the media.

Kishan on India’s third T20 World Cup title win

Kishan was elated with the triumph at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, beating New Zealand by 96 runs. 

"It is a great thing for the entire nation, and we hope that we play and win the same way in the future as well... I try that more players get inspired to advance ahead..." Kishan said. 

 

 

Kishan’s numbers in T20 World Cup 

Kishan finished as fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament. From nine innings, he scored 317 runs at an average of 35.22 and strike rate of 193.29. He scored a match-winning fifty in the group stage against arch-rivals Pakistan at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
