BCCI announces annual central contract list for women cricketers, no place for Harleen Deol in list of 16 players

Harmanpreet Kaur-led India's next big test will be on England soil as they tour in June-Junly for five-T20I and three-ODI series.

Highlights:

Out-of-favour Shafali Verma has got 'Grade B' contract.

Apart from captain and vice-captain, Deepti Sharma features in 'Grade A' contract.

9 players have got the 'Grade C' contract.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on March 24 announced the Annual Player Contracts for India women's cricket team for the 2024-25 season. India's captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma have been given Grade 'A' contract.

Fast bowler Renuka Thakur, batter Jemimah Rodrigues, wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh and opener Shafali Verma have been put in 'Grade B' category. Shafali has retained her place despite getting dropped from the white-ball squad following dismal performances in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in UAE. However, she has done well in domestic cricket and in the recently concluded Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025.

There are nine players in the 'Grade C' category including youngsters Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu and Amanjot Kaur. There was no place for young opener Pratika Rawal. Another notable ommission is Harleen Deol.

Players in Grade A, Grade B and Grade C get Rs 50 lakh, Rs 30 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively. However, they get paid the same match fee as male cricketers -- Rs 15 lakh per Test, Rs 6 lakh per ODI and Rs 3 lakh per T20I.

India's tour of England 

Harmanpreet Kaur-led India's next challenge is on England soil. India are set to tour England for a limited-overs series comprising of five T20Is and three ODIs. The T20I series will begin on June 28.
