BCCI announces replacements & another venue for 1st round of Duleep Trophy: Saini replaces an unwell Siraj, Jadeja released from Team B squad

Duleep Trophy 2024: Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will not play the first round of the tournament. Unwell Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik have been ruled out.

Jammu & Kashmir pacer Umran Malik is yet to regain full fitness after suffering from dengue.

Ravindra Jadeja's replacement in Team B squad has not been announced.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on August 27 announced a couple of replacements for the upcoming first round of the Duleep Trophy 2025. Navdeep Saini will replace an unwell Mohammed Siraj in the Team B squad. Umran Malik who was recovering from dengue is yet to regain full fitness has been replaced by Gaurav Yadav in the Team C squad. In addition, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been released from Team B squad.

 

Saini's last appearance in Test cricket was in the Border-Gavaskar 2021-22 series. He was picked as a net bowler and got a chance to play as one of the replacements. He took four wickets from two Tests. Gaurav who plays for Puducherry has taken 141 wickets from 37 games at an average of 24.02 including seven five-wicket hauls. Meanwhile, Jadeja has been out of action since he retired from T20Is following India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. He was rested for the ODI series against Sri Lanka as well. 
 

Meanwhile, M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been added to the list of venues for the tournament. The first round will begin on September 5, 2024. The other venue is Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
