The new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru was officially inaugurated today, according to a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Now known as the BCCI Centre of Excellence, this state-of-the-art facility is the product of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah's ambition and vision to develop cricket's future. This facility, which covers more than 40 acres, is intended to become India's center for developing cricket talent and promoting sports science. With three fields and eighty-six pitches—both indoor and outdoor—the Center of Excellence is a prime example of its ability to offer extensive training facilities.
The three elite cricket grounds are located in the heart of the Centre. The main field, Ground A, has an 85-yard perimeter and 13 immaculate Mumbai red dirt fields that are ready for play. It can host and stream matches under lights thanks to its cutting-edge broadcasting facilities and advanced floodlighting.
With 75-yard boundaries, Grounds B and C are designated practice grounds with 11 Mandya and 9 Black Cotton soil pitches from Kalahandi, Odisha, respectively. An innovative subsurface drainage system guarantees prompt recuperation following downpours, reducing interruptions and preserving a regular playing schedule. The white picket fencing and verdant sitting mounds on the grounds are evocative of English county parks.
This center supports athletes in all disciplines and is not just for cricket. Its goal is to advance sports science. Leading Indian Olympians will have access to the cutting-edge Sports Science & Medicine facility, which will expand the Indian sports ecosystem as a whole.
Sports development and training in India are about to undergo a transformation thanks to the BCCI Centre of Excellence. The new CoE showcases the BCCI's commitment to developing the next generation of athletes and enhancing the nation's standing in the international sports arena with its top-notch facilities and unwavering pursuit of greatness.
