The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have rescheduled Bangladesh's Women's tour of India for the white ball series until further announcement. The Women in Blue are scheduled to travel to Bangladesh for the three-match ODI series, followed by the same number of T20Is in December 2025.
Why India vs Bangladesh while the ball series is postponed?
ESPNcricinfo quoted that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received a letter from the BCCI saying that the white-ball series will be scheduled at a later date. BCCI didn't give a particular reason for the postponement, but it is understood that the prevailing political tensions between India and Bangladesh were a key factor.
When India vs Bangladesh white ball series supposed to take place?
The white ball series will be a part of the ICC's future tours programme. It was meant to be India's last set of games before the start of the next edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL). This was supposed to be India's first international assignment after the ODI World Cup win and before the WPL. The matches were expected to be played in Kolkata and Cuttack, with the ODIs kicking off the new cycle of the Women's ODI Championship for both sides.
BCCI earlier postponed India's men tour of Bangladesh
Earlier this year, the BCCI also postponed India's men's white-ball tour of Bangladesh, originally slotted for August 2025, to September 2026.
"This decision has been reached following discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams," the BCCI had said in a statement at the time. "The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course."
Why are India and Bangladesh's Political relations worsened?
India and Bangladesh’s political relationship has become increasingly tense after the recent uprising in Bangladesh. The situation has worsened because Bangladesh is pressing India to hand over former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently taking refuge there. Recently, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh also announced a death sentence for their former PM, Sheikh Hasina, for her involvement in ordering a crackdown on Bangladeshi protestors.
