In a big update pertaining to the Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia that is scheduled to be held in the subcontinent next year, a source privy to the development told Sports Tak that the four-match red-ball series is most likely to kick off from either February 08 or February 10, 2023.
"The BCCI's technical committee is still discussing the upcoming home test series vs Australia," a source told Sports Tak.
"A meeting was held yesterday (November 20, Sunday) and there are chances that the series may start by February 08 or February 10 so that there will be no issue with women's IPL and the calendar will be clear. As of now, Delhi and Ahmedabad are clear for hosting matches also Nagpur is almost clear. Only the fourth venue is yet to be decided, which will be finalised soon and an official announcement will be made," the source added.
Earlier, Sports Tak had reported that the series is most likely to kick off from February 15 but now there are chances of it being preponed for the aforementioned reason.
The series will be very important as it will be the last four games for India in the second edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. In fact, in order to qualify for the summit clash, India might have to beat Australia 4-0, which could be a Herculean task for Rohit Sharma's men.
The series is traditionally a four-Test affair, but will be contested across five matches during the next ICC Future Tours & Programme (FTP), starting 2024.
