The development was confirmed by BCCI president Roger Binny. In a letter accessed by Sports Tak , former India cricketer Roger Binny wrote:

"Hope this email finds you well. As you are aware, Hon Secretary, Mr. Jay Shah has been elected as the Chairperson of the ICC with effect from December 1, 2024. While it is indeed a proud moment for the BCCI, his election to the ICC has left the post of Hon. Secretary vacant.

"The President shall, in the event of a vacancy or indisposition of an Office Bearer, delegate the functions to another Office Bearer until the vacancy is duly filled up, or the indisposition ceases".

"I wish you all the very best and I am confident that you will perform the functions to the best of your ability and with aplomb.

Regards,
