The ugly incident took place on Day 1 of the warm-up game.

India’s legendary batter Dilip Vengsarkar will decide what action will be taken against Prithvi Shaw and Musheer Khan for their on-field spat during Day 1 of the three-day warm-up game between Maharashtra and Mumbai. Vengsarkar will oversee the probe after getting a report of the incident.

Shaw was subjected to sledging from his former teammates during his 181-run knock on Day 1. After Musheer dismissed him, he said ‘Thank You’ which further irked the former India Under-19 World Cup-winning captain. He swiped his bat at Shaw and had heated exchanges with the youngster and others before umpires intervened.

The Mumbai selectors will get the report of the incident on October 9.

“There will be a (Mumbai Ranji team) selection committee meeting on Thursday, so we will ask the Mumbai captain, coach, and the player about what happened," Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap told Mid-Day.

Similarly, Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) will take an action after getting the report.

"I'm still awaiting the report on the incident. I will be obtaining detailed information about it, and if something is found, depending on the gravity of the situation and considering the importance of discipline, we will speak to both players (Shaw and Musheer). Discipline among players is a very important aspect," said Adv Kamlesh Pisal, secretary of the MCA.

Mumbai batters’ domination on Day 1

Shaw and Arshin Kulkarni frustrated Mumbai bowlers as they wreaked havoc with their massive partnership. Kulkarni scored faster than Shaw. He scored 186 runs from 140 balls. Maharashtra declared their innings after posting 465/3 from 81 overs.

Maharashtra captain’s reaction to heated exchange

After Day 1’s play, Maharashtra captain Ankit Bawne tried to brush the ugly incident under the carpet.

"It's a practice match. They are all former teammates. Such things happen. It's all ok now and there is no issue," Bawne said as quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
