Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has returned to Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) ahead of 2023 edition of Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Bravo has returned to his former franchise after representing St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKNP) for two seasons including a title win. Bravo had played for Knight Riders from 2013 to 2020 and won four titles with them.

"Very exciting times. The champion DJ Bravo is coming back to his home franchise TKR. Our relationship and our friendship is second to none and this is a very good opportunity for us both to represent TKR together once again, in the upcoming season. We are very happy to have him back in red and black," said TKR skipper Kieron Pollard on Bravo’s homecoming.

“DJ (Champion) Bravo has been one of the key pillars on which TKR has been built. We are delighted to welcome him back home & look forward to another enjoyable season. There’s no doubt the entire #TeamTKR and our fans will eagerly look forward to seeing him back in TKR colours,” TKR team director Venky Mysore said.

Bravo is in a league of his own as he is still the leading T20 wicket-taker after retiring from international cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.  Bravo has a total of 615 wickets and is followed by Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan with 551 wickets.

Until recently, Bravo was the highest wicket-taker of IPL history before Rajasthan Royals (RR) leggie Yuzvendra Chahal surpassed him. In CPL, he is still the highest wicket-taker with 124 wickets from 97 games. The only bowler with more than 100 wickets in CPL history is Sunil Narine (101 wickets).

Currently, Bravo is involved with his former IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as their bowling coach.

“I’m looking forward to this new journey because it’s something I see myself doing after my playing days are fully over. I enjoy working with bowlers and it’s a role I’m excited about. From player to coach, I don’t think I have to adjust much because while I’m playing, I always work with bowlers and try to come up with plans and ideas on how to have that one step ahead of the batsmen. The only difference is I will no longer be standing at mid-on or mid-off,” Bravo had said about joining CSK coaching staff.
