The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially announced the white-ball squads for the upcoming series against South Africa and Ireland respectively. The England team will first face South Africa in both ODI and T20I series, followed by a trip to Ireland for a three-match T20I series.

Jacob Bethell to lead England in T20I series against Ireland

The ODI series against South Africa is scheduled for September 2, 4, and 7, with the T20I series taking place on September 10, 12, and 14. Following this, a younger England squad will travel to Dublin to play a three-match T20I series on September 17, 19, and 21. For the series against Ireland, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Jacob Bethell, at just 21 years old, will become the youngest-ever England Men's captain in international cricket history. Additionally, Hampshire pacer Sonny Baker has earned his first call-up to the national team after his impressive performances for England Lions, as well as in the Vitality Blast and The Hundred.

Pacer Mark Wood has been left out of the white-ball squads as he continues to recover from a knee surgery, and speedster Gus Atkinson has also been rested. However, young leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed has been recalled to the team after his impressive performances, and Phil Salt is also making a comeback to the T20I squad.

Full-strength squads have been selected for the series against South Africa. For the subsequent series against Ireland, however, all-format players, with the exception of Jacob Bethell, have been rested. For the Ireland series, Marcus Trescothick will take over as head coach from Brendon McCullum.
