Virat Kohli is one of the most followed cricketers around the globe, and the reason behind his huge fan following is none other than his cricketing skills and the aura he carries on the field while batting. The stylish batter is also known for his own field aggression, which is also loved by his fans.
Former India speedster S Sreesanth believes that Kohli's aggressive demeanour is essential to his success as a player. Sreesanth expressed his perspective on Kohli's on-field behaviour, distinguishing between aggression and passion.
"Nothing (on whether he would change anything). What others call aggression, I call it passion. Is Virat Kohli aggressive? No. I think he is obsessed. Virat's aggression, people say, is a lot. I would say if he reduces that aggression, he won't be the same player," Sreesanth said on sports commentator Padamjeet Sehrawat's YouTube channel.
Kohli and Sreesanth featured together in the ODI World Cup 2011, where India defeated Sri Lanka to win the title at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Soon after the 2011 World Cup, the careers of both cricketers took different paths following the 2011 World Cup victory. Kohli made his Test debut in the West Indies series, while Sreesanth did not participate in that tour.
Kohli's last international outing came in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where unbeaten India defeated New Zealand in the final at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai to win the title. He recently announced his retirement from Tests after a poor outing in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He managed to score 190 runs in five Test matches. Before Tests, Kohli retired from T20Is after India defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados to win their first World Cup since 2011. Kohli's upcoming international outing will came in the ODI series against Australia which will start from October 19.
