Unsold in The Hundred, England's 24-year-old batter slams 6 sixes in 6 balls in One-Day tournament; watch video

At the County Ground, Hove, Hampshire's 24-year-old Toby Albert achieved what only a few mortals have in List A cricket. Albert hit six sixes in six balls in The England Domestic One-Day Cup 2026 against Sussex at County Ground, Hove. After both openers Alistair Orr and Ben Mayes scored centuries, Albert wreaked havoc to help Hampshire post a daunting total on the board. 

Albert arrived at the crease in the 36th over. Orr was dismissed for a run-a-ball 105 by Robert Kirtley. A few overs later, Mayes lost his wicket to Nantes Oosthuizen. He scored 109 runs from 115 balls. In the following over, Oosthuizen knocked over Tom Prest as well. Meanwhile Albert had already got off to a good start.

Albert unleashed carnage

In the 43rd over, Albert hit Oosthuizen for two consecutive sixes to reach his half-century from just 26 deliveries. In the next over, Jake Lehmann gave Albert the strike with a single off the second delivery. Albert hit Kirtley for a six over long-off. Kirtley followed it up with a slower one. Albert dragged it from outside the off-stump to clear the deep midwicket boundary. Kirtley tried to take it away from Albert's arc but he shuffled and smashed it over the bowler's head for another maximum. On the last ball of the over, the pacer tried to bowl it fuller. Albert stayed deep in the crease and hit it over long-on for another six.

Robinson strikes thrice in 48th over

In the next over, Danial Ibrahim dismissed Lehmann for a run-a-ball 10. In the 48th over, Ollie Robinson struck thrice. First, he dismissed India's Ashutosh Sharma for a run-a-ball 12. On the fifth ball of the over, he edged one to John Simpson. He hit eight sixes and five fours in his blazing 37-ball 86. Then, Robinson finished off his quota of 10 overs with Ben Brown's wicket.

In the penultimate over, Eddie Jack hit Ibrahim for a four and two consecutive sixes. Kirtley bowled the final over and ended Jack's cameo. Andrew John Neal hit a four and a six before losing his wicket off the last ball. Kirley ended up conceding 95 runs from 10 overs. Hampshire posted 383/9.

Tear's ton, Leaning's 92 in vain

In the run chase, Tom Haines and Oliver Carter failed to make an impact and managed to score just four runs each. Charlie Tear and Jack Leaning gave Sussex hope with a 139-run partnership for the third wicket. Tear departed for a 94-ball 111, making up for the dot deliveries Haines and Carter faced. His wicket was shortly followed by John Simpson's. Leaning and Ibrahim shared a 96-run stand but the required run rate slipped out of the grasp. Prest struck twice in the 43rd over, dismissing Ibrahim and George Thomas. Ibrahim scored 55 runs from 42 balls.

Skipper John Carson joined Leaning in the middle. Leaning lost his wicket in the 45th over for a 95-ball 92. Carson entertained the crowd with an unbeaten 19-ball 32 cameo. Sussex ended up getting bowled out for 332 in 48.5 overs. Jack bagged a four-fer helping Hampshire win by 51 runs.
