In a series of big updates, former Australia all-rounder Moises Henriques will lead Portugal in the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2028 Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier C. Born in Portugal before moving to Australia during his childhood, the 39-year-old all-rounder went on to represent the Australian cricket team across all three formats of the game.

His international career, spanning from October 2009 to August 2021, consisting of four Tests, 16 ODIs and 24 T20Is.
Moises Henriques' vast T20 experience
Notably, Moises called time on his Australian domestic career in July 2026, the veteran all-rounder made it clear that he wants to continue in overseas tournaments. Having played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) during his IPL career, he brings vast experience of playing T20s to Portugal, with playing more than 300 games.

Henriques was officially given Portugal's captaincy on Tuesday, August 11, as the European nation looks to take another step towards a historic maiden appearance at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Currently ranked 37th in the ICC T20I rankings, Portugal have been alongside Israel, Germany, Greece and Czechia in Group B of the Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier C, set to take place from August 14 to 20.
