Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced on November 11.

Afghanistan star cricketer who featured for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to retire from ODI cricket after Champions Trophy 2025.

The 39-year-old, who stepped away from Test cricket in 2019, will say goodbye to the 50-over format following the upcoming ICC tournament, according to Afghanistan Cricket Board chief executive Naseeb Khan in an interview with Cricbuzz.

Nabi made his ODI debut in 2009 against Scotland and has since played 165 matches for Afghanistan, amassing 3,549 runs and taking 171 wickets.

"Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he informed the board about his desire," Naseeb was quoted speaking to Cricbuzz.

"He told me few months back that he wants to end his ODI career after the Champions Trophy and we welcome his decision. After the Champions Trophy, what I understand is that, he is expected to continue his T20 career, and that is the plan until now," he added.

Champions Trophy 2025 schedule

Sports Tak earlier reported that the schedule for Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced on November 11, that too without venues.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation is scheduled to visit Lahore from November 10 to 12 to assess the arrangements and preparations for the upcoming eight-team tournament.

According to the proposed schedule from Cricket Pakistan, Pakistan, the original host of the 2025 Champions Trophy, will be placed in Group A alongside India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B will feature England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.

However, India's participation in the tournament remains uncertain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still awaiting approval from the Indian government before confirming their involvement.

The Champions Trophy 2025 is currently slated to start from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day scheduled for March 10.
