LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka said that everyone wants the best captain and players.

Rohit Sharma is making headlines since Indian Premier League 2024 since his franchise Mumbai Indians announced Hardik Pandya as their new skipper. Now as the mega auction of the marquee event is coming up the Indian T20 World Cup-winning captain's future at the Mumbai Indians (MI) remains uncertain. Amid all these speculations there is a rumour and a rumour stated that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are keen to buy him and are saving a whopping amount of Rs. 50 crore.

LSG owner opened up on all these rumours on taking Rohit Sharma in the upcoming season of the tournament. In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, Goenka said that it is nearly impossible to spend 50 crore on just one cricketer.

"You tell me. Do you know if Rohit Sharma is coming into the auction? No one knows. This is all unnecessary. Whether Mumbai Indians release Rohit Sharma or not. Whether Rohit Sharma comes into the auction or not. Even if he comes, if you spend 50% of your purse on one player, then how will you buy the other 22 players," said Goenka in an interaction with Sports Tak.

"Everyone wants the best captain and players. But this is like if wishes were horses. It is not about wanting. It is what you have, what is available, and what you can do from that. I can wish we have this and that, but every franchise will want that. You will not get everything," Goenka added.

When asked about player retention and captaincy, Goenka said they are yet to arrive at a decision and are waiting for the BCCI to release the rules regarding retention.

"We have all of September, October and November to decide that. Let the policies be out. We have not even thought about the team going forward, whether retention will be three-four-five or six, we have no clue," Goenka said.
