Smriti Mandhana has successfully maintained her status as the world’s top-ranked ODI batter in the latest ICC rankings released on March 8. The Indian opener continues to lead the charts following her consistent performances, even as the national side faced a challenging period. She is joined in the top 10 by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who held steady in eighth place despite India’s recent struggles on the field.
Smriti Mandhana no.1 spot still intact
However, the team’s difficult 0-3 series whitewash against Australia in late February and early March has impacted other individual standings. Jemimah Rodrigues felt the weight of that defeat, slipping down the rankings to 12th position. The series was a tough outing for the Women in Blue, highlighted by a massive 185-run loss in the final match in Hobart, where Australian captain Alyssa Healy signed off from ODI cricket with a commanding 158.

In contrast, New Zealand's stars have seen a significant rise in their rankings thanks to a dominant home series against Zimbabwe. New captain Amelia Kerr has been the standout performer, particularly after her historic seven-wicket haul in Dunedin. By taking 7/34, Kerr broke a 44-year-old national record and became only the seventh player in history to achieve such a feat in a women’s ODI. Her efforts propelled her five places up to 11th in the bowling rankings and one spot higher to fifth among all-rounders.
Kerr’s teammates also enjoyed significant boosts following their unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Brooke Halliday surged eight places to 11th in the batting charts after smashing an incredible, unbeaten 157 off just 117 balls in the series opener. Maddy Green similarly climbed four spots to joint 22nd after consistent contributions, including a solid 67. The White Ferns have carried their momentum from a successful T20I sweep into the longer format, as they head into the series finale in Dunedin.
Big fluctuations in T20I rankings
The latest update to the ICC Women’s T20I rankings has brought big shifts following Sri Lanka’s successful three-match series against the West Indies. With the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales now less than 100 days away, set to begin on June 12, these changes provide a crucial look at which players are finding their rhythm ahead of the global tournament.
Sri Lanka’s series-clinching victory in the third T20I at St. George’s was a major catalyst for their players' upward movement. Opener Hasini Perera was the biggest beneficiary, surging 15 places to 28th overall in the batting rankings after her match-winning, unbeaten half-century. She was joined in her ascent by the relatively inexperienced Imesha Dulani, whose unbeaten 34 in the series finale helped her climb 17 rungs to a career-high joint 72nd position.
Beyond the batting department, Sri Lankan all-rounder Kavisha Dilhari continued her steady rise by making gains in multiple categories. Dilhari moved up three spots to 21st in the bowling rankings and climbed two places to 11th on the all-rounder list, further cementing her role as a vital asset for the national side.
The West Indies also saw a notable boost for veteran spinner Afy Fletcher. Her consistent performance, which included taking three wickets across the final two games of the series, propelled her four places up to seventh overall in the T20I bowling rankings.
