IS Bindra's legacy
Bindra’s legacy is defined by his transformative impact on the sport's financial landscape. Serving as the 23rd President of the BCCI from 1993 to 1996, he partnered with Jagmohan Dalmiya to revolutionize the board's commercial value. By opening up the Indian cricket television market, he turned the BCCI into a global economic powerhouse. His career in cricket administration spanned four decades, beginning in 1975, and ran parallel to a distinguished professional career that saw him retire as Special Secretary to the President of India, Giani Zail Singh.

Beyond his national influence, Bindra was the driving force behind the development of cricket in Punjab. He served as the President of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for an incredible 36 years, from 1978 to 2014, before taking on the role of PCA Chairman in 2015. His visionary leadership resulted in the creation of the world-class stadium in Mohali, which was officially renamed the IS Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in his honor in 2015. A final farewell will be held at the Lodhi crematorium on January 26 afternoon.
