Former Rajasthan cricketer Rohit Sharma dies at 40 after battle with liver issues

Former Rajasthan top-order batter Rohit Sharma who has two centuries in List A cricket passed away in a city hospital after battling liver-related issues.

Former Rajasthan cricketer Rohit Sharma passed away in a city hospital on March 2. Rohit succumbed to his liver-related issues. He was admitted to the hospital for a few days and was undergoing treatment. He was 40 years old. 
 

Rohit’s career

The opener made his first-class debut against Services in 2004. He played his last first-class game in 2009 against Jharkhand. He has 166 runs from seven games at an average of 12.76.
 

The right-handed batter had a better record in List A cricket (One-Day). He scored 850 runs from 28 games at an average of 35.41 including two centuries and three half-centuries. He bowled 14 overs and picked up just one wicket in the format.

He played T20 cricket as well. From four matches, he scored 131 runs at an average of 32.75 including a half-century. His strike rate was an impressive 135.05. He contributed with his leg spin taking six wickets. He made his last T20 appearance in February 2017.
 

Life after retirement

Rohit wanted to stay connected to the game and founded the RS Cricket Academy where he coached budding cricketers.
