Former U-19 captain dies after suffering cardiac arrest

Former U-19 India captain Avi Barot has passed away after suffering cardiac arrest. The young Saurashtra player and a member of the Ranji Trophy-winning team died at the young age of 29 after a cardiac arrest on Friday, informed the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA).  

The media release by the SCA stated, “Everyone at Saurashtra Cricket Association is deeply shocked and saddened on the very shocking, untimely and extremely sad demise of Avi Barot, remarkable and notable cricketer of Saurashtra. He left for heavenly abode in the evening of 15th October 2021 due to severe cardiac arrest."

 

The 29-year-old right-handed batter represented Haryana and Gujarat. He was a part of the Ranji Trophy-winning team that had defeated Bengal in the finals. He captained India U-19 in 2011.  

 

Barot had played 38 First-class matches, 38 List A matches and 20 domestic T20 games. Barot scored 1547 runs in the First-class matches, 1030 in List A games and 717 in T20s.
