The Gujarat Giants (GG) had a perfect day out in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction as they signed two big players for the upcoming season. GG bolstered their squad by signing four players, including West Indies' World Cup-winner Deandra Dottin and India's Simran Shaikh in the mini-auction. The team also secured the services of England's Danielle Gibson and India's Prakashika Naik.
With the largest purse of Rs 4.4 crore among the five teams, the Gujarat Giants had retained 14 players prior to the mini-auction. As they look to build on their strong performance in the inaugural WPL season, the inclusion of two star players will only bolster their squad for WPL 2025.
The Gujarat Giants are aiming to clinch their first WPL title next year. Despite finishing at the bottom of the table in the inaugural season, the team retained their core players ahead of the WPL 2025 auction.
With a strong foreign contingent, including captain Beth Mooney, Laura Wolvaardt, and Ash Gardner, the Giants are focused on strengthening their Indian player base before the third edition.
