India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has slammed reports of him missing Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash against Tripura due to injury. Iyer who ended his century drought in red-ball cricket with a 142-run knock against Maharashtra wants the media to do some homework before publishing the news.

“Guys seriously let’s do some homework before publishing news,” Iyer wrote in reply to a tweet.

The report claimed that a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) source told them that Iyer will not travel to Agartala for Mumbai's next match starting October 26. Also, MCA will not announce Iyer's replacement in the squad for the fixture.

Earlier, Iyer had mentioned after breaching the three-figures in red-ball cricket that he needs to listen to his body irrespective of what people say outside.

"No matter whatever people think outside, I have to listen to my body because I know the amount of threshold I've carried over the last few years and based on that I'll be taking the right decision and I hope that my team will also back (me)," the 29-year-old said.

Meanwhile, Iyer is hopeful for his return to the Indian side in an already packed middle-order.

"Obviously I was feeling a bit down with my injuries, but now getting a century after a very long time, it's a great feeling overall. I am absolutely keen for a comeback, but, yeah, as we say, control the controllables," he said.
