Zimbabwe’s 39-year-old T20I captain Sikandar Raza has been crowned no.1 ODI all-rounder in the latest ICC rankings. Raza left Afghan pair Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi behind with two half-centuries in recently-concluded ODI series at home against Sri Lanka at home which the visitors won 2-0.
In the first ODI, Raza's 87-ball 92 went in vain as Zimbabwe lost to Sri Lanka by seven runs, chasing a target of 299. He picked up the wicket of Sadeera Samarawickrama as well. In the second ODI of the series, he scored an unbeaten 55-ball 59 to help Zimbabwe post 277/7. He remained wicketless from nine overs as Pathum Nissanka's 122 and captain Charith Asalanka's half-century helped Sri Lanka chase down 278 with three balls to spare.
Other changes in top 10 all-rounder rankings
Meanwhile, Scotland's Brabdon McMullen slipped two places to eighth position. As a result, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner and Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan occupied the sixth spot with 28 points each. Another entry into top 10 is New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra. Namibia's Gerhard Erasmus and Sri Lanka's injured all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga slipped to 11th and 12th respectively. The only Indian all-rounder in top is Ravindra Jadeja at ninth place.
Raza up in batter rankings too, Nissanka and Markram make big gains
Owing to his century in a winning cause against Zimbabwe, Nissanka climbed seven positions to take the 13th spot. There were no changes in top 10. Raza went up in ODI batter rankings as well. He climbed nine spots to take the 22nd spot. Also, South Africa opener Aiden Markram was rewarded for 55-ball 85 as he went up three places to move to 20th position.
Archer moves into top 20
There were a few changes in the bowling rankings as well. Hasaranga slipped to ninth spot, leading to Jadeja taking his place. After a three-fer in losing cause, England leg-spinner Adil Rashid took the 15th spot. England pacer Jofra Archer went up six places to 19th with an economical spell. Zimbabwe's Richard Ngarava made his place in top 20 as well.
