Former India captain Virat Kohli, who is currently spending quality time with his family after featuring for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has penned down a heartfelt note for his late father, Prem Nath Kohli, on the occasion of Father's Day. Kohli's father died of a stroke on December 18, 2006, when he used to play for Delhi in domestic cricket.
Kohli took to his Instagram to share a picture with his father, where he penned down an emotional note for his dad on the occasion of Father's Day.
"He taught me to never rely on shortcuts or influence — because if you truly have it in you, hard work will show it. And if you don’t have the will to work for it, then maybe you don’t deserve it yet. When I was offered an easier path once, he refused it for me.
With calm conviction, he said, “If you’re good enough, you’ll find your way. And if not, it’s better to know that early.” That one moment shaped how I live, work, and show up in the world. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers whose quiet strength becomes our lifelong compass" posted Kohli.
Earlier, Kohli's wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma also shared a social media post where their daughter Vamika Kohli wrote a message for his father.
Anushka took to her Instagram to share a photo of er father sitting on a chair and vibing to a song with headphones on. Along with it, she also shared Vamika’s note for Virat, which read, “He looks like my brother. He is funny. He tickles me. I play make-up with him. I love him so much and he loves me this much (arms wide). Happy Father’s Day.” Vamika signed her name under the note. Sharing the pictures, Anushka wrote, “To the first man I ever loved—and the first man our daughter did… Happy Father’s Day to all the beautiful fathers everywhere.”
Kohli has recently announced his retirement from the longest format of the game before the all-important five-Test match series against England. The batting great has earlier said goodbye to T20Is after India's T20 World Cup 2024 win in Barbados.
