IND vs AFG T20I series dates revealed, matches to be played in Delhi after BCCI approval

Afghanistan are set to host India for a historic three-match T20I series in Delhi from September 13 to 17 following approval from the BCCI.

In a series of breaking events, The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that Afghanistan will lock horns against India in a three-game T20I series, with all the games taking place in India. The upcoming assignment will also create a unique piece of history, as Afghanistan will become the first foreign cricket board to host the Indian team on Indian territory.

Afghanistan to host India

All the three games will take place in Delhi, with Afghanistan acting as the host nation against India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The opening game is scheduled for September 13, before the teams return for the last two games on September 15 and 17.

As per a latest report by Cricbuzz on Tuesday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has communicated the details of the series to its commercial partners through an official letter. The scheduled and venue have now been locked in following the BCCI's approval of the proposed arrangements.

"The ACB hereby confirms that the India tour of Afghanistan 2026 (Event) is scheduled to take place from September 13 to September 17. The ACB further confirms that the dates of the Event have been confirmed and agreed with the BCCI and the venues of the scheduled matches have also been finalised," said ACB CEO Naseeb Khan.

The ACB circulated the letter among the involved stakeholders and authorities to give them enough time to complete all the preparations for the three-match series. However, the communication also mentioned that an official announcement regarding the three-match assignment had not yet been released publicly.

"While an official public announcement regarding the event is yet to be made by the concerned authorities, the ACB is issuing this letter as an official confirmation of the scheduled dates and venues of the India tour of Afghanistan 2026. Accordingly, all media rights holders may proceed with their planning, scheduling and production arrangements, resource allocation, promotional activities and other related preparations based on the above schedule," the letter further added.
