In a series of big events, the Indian team secured a historic win over England in the historic one-off Test match at Lord's on Monday, July 13. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side required only four wickets to wrap up the game. They sealed the game in the opening session, bundling out the hosts for 186 to seal a massive 270 run win.

How did the game go for India?

The base of India's historic triumph was laid across the first two days after England won the toss and opted to bowl first. India managed to post 285 on the scoreboard in their first innings, powered by vice-captain Smriti Mandhana's sublime 83-run knock. In the second innings, England's batting attack endured a collapse under the lethal swing and precision of 19-year-old Indian pace sensation Kranti Gaud.

Gaud tore through the English batting lineup to finish the inning with a remarkable 5/37, becoming the first woman pacer to record a five-wicket haul at the iconic Lord's as England was bundled out for just 170 runs.

Having a great cushion of 115 runs, India completely outplayed the hosts during their second dig with a towering 341 for 7 declaration. Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia etched her name at the Lord's honor board after becoming the first woman to score a Test century at Lord's, recording 113 off just 158 balls. Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana continued her great form with an aggressive 70 runs in the second innings. Richa Ghosh gave brilliant finishing touch with her 52-ball half-century, setting England an mammoth target of 457 runs.

Underwhelming performance from England

The impossible run-chase soon turned out to be a nightmare as India's bowling unit suffocated the home side under the overcast weather conditions. Kranti Gaud struck with the very first ball of the final innings to remove Tammy Beaumont for a duck, ruining the legend's farewell appearance along with former skipper Heather Knight, who scored only 13 runs in her last international inning.

Despite a hard-fought 54 from Amy Jones, off-spinner Sneh Rana spun a web around the lower order to finish the game with the figures of 4/42, securing a historic 270-run win over England.
