Former Pakistan speedster Sikander Bakht slammed Babar Azam after he stepped down as Pakistan's white ball captain. He said that Babar should have resigned after Pakistan's poor campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan faced their biggest defeat in the T20 World Cup where they lost their tournament opener against a non-Test playing nation USA. After their poor performance in the marquee event, the team failed to qualify for the Super 8 of the tournament and their campaign ended on June 16.
"After three months, I think he should have done it at the same time. As soon as the World Cup was over, our World Cup was over on 16th June. Because we had not qualified further. He should have resigned at the same time. The whole nation was saying that he should have resigned. But He was stubborn. Because his style was like this, he was king (In a sarcastic way). His performance was not good, neither was theirs. Anyway, they should have seen that we are removed in two ways. I don't know what happened to him" said Sikander Bakht on Pakistan news channel.
He also highlighted that everything is not good in Pakistan Cricket's dressing room as the players have different groups. He said that there are already three players who want to captain the side in white ball cricket Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan.
"He was told to resign. Look, we have three captains in our base. There are groups of three captains. One is Babar, another is Rizwan. They want to become captains. Shaheen want to become captain again. And there is also Shan Masood. Shan Masood lost five or six matches" added Sikander Bakht
Pakistan are currently preparing for the upcoming three-Test match series against England which is scheduled to start from 7 October to 28 October.
