Jasprit Bumrah likely to miss another series, Mohammed Shami set to make comeback against Bangladesh: Report

After losing the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Indian senior players likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will reportedly feature in the Duleep Trophy before the Test series against Bangladesh. Apart from Kohli and Rohit, Ishan Kishan will also be picked for the Duleep Trophy. But, veteran stars like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara are unlikely to get the nod.
 

The Test series between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to start from September 19. India speedster Mohammed Shami will also make his international comeback in the upcoming series against Bangladesh. Apart from Shami, India ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah is uncertain to be the part of the squad. 

 

As per Indian Express, Their are chances that Bumrah will miss first two Test matches against Bangladesh citing the upcoming busy Test schedule. 

 

“The selectors are reportedly undecided on the inclusion of Bumrah to India's Test squad for the first two matches against Bangladesh too as India are scheduled to play 10 Test matches in the next 4 months, with 5 of them to be against Australia” reported Indian express. 

 

Bumrah last featured for India in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 where India defeated South Africa in the final at Kennington Oval in Barbados. However, India's World Cup winning team was recently featured against Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, Mohammed Shami who is currently on the road to recovery was last featured in the ODI World Cup 2023. He was the pick of the bowlers by getting 24 scalps in seven outings for India. He last featured in the final of the marquee event where India lost the title decider against Australia. 
 

The cricket board is also planning a short camp before the start of the Test series in Chennai.
