The incumbent for the position of Independent Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is Jay Shah. Shah, who has filled in as the BCCI Secretary since October 2019 and Seat of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021, will take over the honorary designation on December 1, 2024. He is the successor of Greg Barclay, who decided not to compete after completing his tenure of four years. He will become the youngest ICC Chairman at the age of 35.

"Jay Shah has been elected unopposed as the next Independent Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah, who has served as the BCCI Honorary Secretary since October 2019 and Chair of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021, will assume this prestigious role on December 1, 2024. Shah was the sole nominee for the chairmanship after current Chair Greg Barclay decided not to seek a third term," said ICC in their official statement.

Shah will become the fifth Indian to hold the designation of ICC head or chairman. He has joined the list with Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar.

According to reports, Jay Shah is the owner of total assets worth Rs 124 crore. Jai Shah has earned this money with his business.

Talking about Jay Shah's personal life, he was born on 22 September 1988 and has done his studies in Gujarat only. He pursued B.Tech after 12th. His wife's name is Rishita Patel and both are college friends. Shah got married in the year 2015 and also has two daughters.

BCCI had given the responsibility of the post of Secretary to Jay Shah in 2019. According to media reports, Jai Shah has also held the post of director at Temple Enterprise. He has about 60 percent stake in Kusum Finserve. Jay Shah's entry into BCCI took place in the year 2015 when he became a member of the Finance and Marketing Committee. As soon as he joined BCCI, he left his post in Gujarat Cricket Association. In the year 2019, he became the Secretary of BCCI. In the year 2022, he again got re-elected as the Secretary of BCCI.
