Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard etched his name into the history books by surpassing fellow West Indies Chris Gayle to become the top-run scorer in men's T20 cricket. The star all-rounder achieved the feat while playing for MI New York against Washington Freedom in the MLC 2026.

New record for Kieron Pollard

The Caribbean icon reached the landmark by hitting a massive six during his unbeaten hundred. Pollard smashed unbeaten 100 off 56 balls and saw him surpass Chris Gayle's tally of 14,562 runs, taking his count to 14,582 runs from 736 T20 games and making him the leading run-scorer in the history of T20s.

The milestone is the true reflection of Kieron Pollard's longevity and legacy in the T20 format of the game. Having featured in franchise leagues across the world for almost two decades, the West Indies icon remains the only player to take part in 700 T20 games.

By moving to the top, of the all-time run-scoring charts, Pollard has established his legacy as one of the most dependable players in the history of T20 cricket.;

Despite Kieron Pollard's heroic century, MI New York could not win the game, as Washington Freedom outclassed them in a dominating fashion. Batting first, Washington managed to post 245/5, as Australia's Mitchell Owen smashed a record-breaking 155 off just 68 balls.

In response, MI New York endured a horrible start, Quinton de Kock and Monank Patel were removed in the very first over before Glenn Maxwell sent Nicholas Pooran back to the dressing room. With the scoreboard reading 64/5, the game looked all over before Pollard dropped a counterattack with an unbeaten century, though it ultimately turned out to be insufficient to prevent the loss.
