Kris Srikknath wants Vaibhav Suryavanshi fast-tracked into Team India

Suryavanbshi played a superb knock of 190 for Bihar in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Former India captain Kris Srikkanth feels that BCCI should fast-track Vaibhav Suryavanshi into the national team after he has adapted brilliantly to higher levels.Srikkanth compared Suryavanshi's rapid rise to the legfendary Sachin Tendulkar, who also earned a spot in the Indian team despite not even being 18 years old.

Suryavanshi dominates in VHT opener

Suryavanshi has dominated opposing bowlers both on the domestic and international stage. He has thrived under  pressure and has also broken a ton of records. Recently, the 14-year-old also became the youngest player in history to score a List A century. He played a stunning knock of 190 runs from just 84 deliveries for Bihar in their Vijay Hazare Trophy opener against Arunachal Pradesh. Suryavanshi went on to reach triple figures after facing just 36 deliveries.

Srikkanth on Suryavanshi's early success

Srikkanth highlighted how Suryavanshi has been sensational with the bat whenever he has been given an opportunity in the IPL, India U-19 or domestic tournaments. He further said that if not the T20 World Cup, then the teenage sensation should be fast-tracked into the team for assignments coming up later in 2026.

"Vaibhav is scoring centuries everywhere, be it the IPL, U19, anywhere. You can say it is against Arunachal Pradesh but that is a different story. This boy has been hammering everybody across all kinds of matches. I had told last year also that they should fast-track him for the T20 World Cup. Maybe it is too late for that now, but they still fast-track him into the team. This boy has got tremendous potential. He should be fast-tracked and brought into the Indian team soon," Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

Srikkanth also believes that the selectors shouldn't show a lot of patience with Suryavanshi as he is a special talent and should be backed despite his young age.

"People say let him play for some more time, let him do this, let him do that. Sachin also played a such a young age. Of course, he played for India after scoring hundreds at all levels, but the same thing can be done for this boy in white-ball cricket," Srikkanth added.

Meanwhile, Suryavanshi is expected to return to action in the second round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy as Bihar face-off against Manipur on December 26 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
