Australia will play three T20Is against Scotland followed by three T20Is and five ODIs against England.

Senior players have been rested from the tour and Mitchell Marsh will lead in ODIs as well.

After T20 World Cup 2024 exit, the selectors have decided to look ahead as they named a young T20I squad. Cricket Australia announced the T20I and ODI squad for the UK tour where they will take on England and Scotland.

As Pat Cummins has been rested as a part of long-term workload management strategy, Mitchell Marsh has been named captain of the ODI side as well. Marsh has led Australia in five ODIs and suffered three losses.

After David Warner's retirement, a young Jake Fraser-McGurk will have a chance to show his mettle in both formats. The selectors have moved on from 36-year-old Matthew Wade as well. While Josh Inglis will don the gloves, 20-year-old Perth Scorchers batter Cooper Connolly has received his maiden call-up. In addition, Steve Smith is missing from the T20I squad as well along with Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell. Matthew Short is missing from the squad as he will remain home with his wife for the birth of their first child.

National men’s selector chairman George Bailey explained why senior players have been rested for the series and young guns have been given a chance.

"This tour gives us a great opportunity to bring in some new players in the absence of David Warner and Matthew Wade, as well as giving some senior players time to prepare for the home summer and a busy first half of next year," Bailey said in a statement.

"We are particularly pleased to offer Cooper his first opportunity in the T20 squad having introduced the likes of Jake, Spencer, Xavier and Aaron in the past 12 months.

"They are exciting prospects to join the likes of Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis and Josh Inglis in the white-ball setup."
