MI Star's Player of the tournament performance makes USA Champions of inaugural North American T20 Cup 2025

The United States of America scripted history emerging as champions of inaugural North American T20 Cup 2025 defeating Canada by six wickets in a thrilling final at Jimmy Powell Oval, George Town on April 27,2025.

The team was led by MI New York Star Monank Patel and he led from the front scoring crucial knock of 70 helping the side chase Canada's 168/9 with five balls to spare. He was also awarded as the player of the tournament for his consistent run in the tournament.

Bowling Masterclass
The 2024 T20 World Cup co hosted by USA and West Indies was a perfect platform where the world witnessed USA's bowling depth and potential and they haven't stopped impressing since then. In this match too, Bowlers were a key factor in winning the game for America. Jasdeep Singh outshined all the bowlers taking 3-wickets for mere 22 runs. Milind Kumar and Saurabh Netravalkar had 2 scalps each.

Monank The leader 

In response, the USA also faced early setbacks as opener Shayan Jahangir was dismissed for just 2 runs. However, Monank Patel rose to the occasion with a sensational knock of 70 off 44 deliveries, steering his team to victory. Mixing caution with controlled aggression, Patel's elegant cover drives and powerful lofted shots kept the scoreboard moving. His crucial 70-run stand with Saiteja Mukkamalla was pivotal in stabilizing the chase. Despite Canada’s best efforts, with standout bowling performances from Saad Bin Zafar and Kaleem Sana, the USA’s pursuit was far from straightforward.

USA has already qualified for the 2026 T20 World Cup to be held in India. 

Stats that tell the story
Monank Patel scored 265 runs in 6 matches with a stellar average of 66.25. He even had a century to his name along with two half centuries. Not just his runs or average Monank's strike rate in this T20 era too makes him a standout performer , he had a sr of 179.05 in the tournament.
 Meanwhile Shayan Jahangir scores 118 runs in 5 matches at an average of 39.33.

Talking about Bowlers, Yasir Mohammed of America was the highest wicket taker taking 16 wickets in 6 matches. Canada's Kaleem Sana was second in the list with 15 wickets.

The inaugural tournament had five teams- Canada, USA, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Bahamas. USA walked out of the tournament with a trophy in their hands.
