India pacer Mohammed Siraj has been adjudged ICC Men's Player of the month for August 2025. Siraj won the award for his match-winning display against England in The Oval Test to help India win by six runs and level Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 2-2.
Siraj beat New Zealand pacer Matt Henry and West Indies pacer Jayden Seales to win the award. Siraj bowled 46.3 overs in the fifth Test and still clocked in 140s on the final day of the Test series. He was the only Indian pacer to play all five Tests on the England tour. He finished the series as the highest wicket-taker.
“It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month,” Siraj said as quoted by ICC.
“The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and it was one of the most intense contests I have been part of.
“I am proud that I could contribute with some important spells, especially in the decisive moments. Bowling against a top batting lineup in their home conditions was challenging, but it also brought out the best in me.
“This award belongs as much to my teammates and the support staff as it does to me, because their constant encouragement and belief kept me going.
“I will continue to work hard and give my best every time I wear the India jersey."
Siraj to be back in action in home Tests
After his heroics on England soil, Siraj wasn’t picked in India’s squad for the ongoing T20 Asia Cup 2025. He has been out of the T20I squad since the Sri Lanka tour.
Siraj is currently ranked 15th in ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings. He will be back in action on the international stage when India go up against West Indies in the two-Test series starting October 2.
No Siraj in IND A vs AUS A series
Siraj is not in India A’s team for the multi-day series against Australia A. He won’t feature in the One-Day series against Australia A either. It is yet to be seen whether he will be on the flight to Australia for the limited-overs series featuring three ODIs and five T20Is.
