MS Dhoni is the 11th Indian cricketer to be bestowed with the honour from ICC

Legendary India skipper MS Dhoni became the 11th cricketer from the country to be bestowed with the honour of getting inducted into the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday. With a total of 17,266 runs in a total of 538 matches in international cricket, Dhoni captained the Men in Blue to three major ICC trophies.

Dhoni is the most successful Indian captain in history

Firstly, he lead the Indian team to the 2007 T20 World Cup triumph where they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in a nail-biting final. Following this, Dhoni played a crucial inning of 91 against Sri Lanka in the 2011 ODI World Cup final to guide the Indian team to only their second World Cup title.

Finally, his remarkable captaincy was on full display in the 2013 Champions Trophy where India defeated England in the final by defending a modest target of 130 runs. Dhoni is undoubtedly the finest skipper in India's history and it will be quite difficult for anyone to topple his achievements in the future.

With his induction into the Hall of Fame, Dhoni joined the list of Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Bishan Singh Bedi, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinoo Mankad, Virender Sehwag, Diana Edulji and Neetu David as the 11th Indian to be bestowed with the highest honour from ICC.

"It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever," Dhoni told ICC.

Alongside Dhoni, six other former cricketers were also added to the prestigious list. Among them is former Australia batter Matthew Hayden, who scored over 15,000 runs in international cricket. Additionally, former South Africa cricketers Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla and former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori also had theirt names inducted in the Hall of Fame.
