In a powerful initiative to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and support India’s fight against the disease, a T20 cricket match will take place between Members of Parliament (MPs), led by Anurag Thakur, and the Mumbai Heroes team, captained by Suniel Shetty. The match, powered by Dream Sports Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday, March 22, at MCA Cricket Stadium, BKC, 6:00 pm onwards. The live streaming will be available for free on FanCode, India’s premier sports destination.
This match is part of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing efforts to make a TB Mukt Bharat. The event aims to engage citizens, highlight the importance of early detection and treatment, and promote community participation in the fight against TB.
India’s Progress in Fighting TB
India has made remarkable strides in reducing TB cases and mortality:
*TB Deaths Reduced: Since 2015, India has achieved a 38% decline in TB-related deaths, compared to the global average of 8%.
* Fewer New Cases: The country has seen an 18% drop in TB cases due to improved diagnostics and awareness campaigns.
* Government Support: Free TB treatment, nutritional assistance, and financial aid of ₹1,000 per patient are provided under the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana.
Anurag Singh Thakur, captain of the MPs XI, emphasized the importance of fitness and health awareness:

Suniel Shetty, captain of Mumbai Heroes, added:

Anurag Singh Thakur Ji has taken a fantastic step by bringing leaders and celebrities together through sports to spread awareness.
