Former South Africa speedster Dale Steyn picked Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar as the best yorker bowling player in the history of cricket.

Iceland Cricket Board who are known for their witty posts recently asked fans about their opinion on which bowler has had the best yorker in history. Where the South Africa legend Dale Steyn responded to their post by picking Pakistan's great speedster Shoaib Akhtar as the best yorker-bowling player in the history of cricket. Dale Steyn responded that Akhtar's bowling performance in 1999 World Cup was best in the history of cricket.

Akhar was the form of his life in 1999 edition of the World Cup which was hosted by England where Australia defeated Pakistan in the final to win the title. Akhtar picked up 16 wickets in the 10 outings of the marquee event. He bowled the fastest delivery of his career in the same tournament. 

 

Shoaib Akhtar's international career

 

Akhtar represented Pakistan for more than 14 years. The right arm speedster played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20 Internationals in his career. Akhtar picked 178 wickets in Test cricket, 247 wickets in ODI cricket, and 19 scalps in the shortest format of the game.
 

Dale Steyn's International career

 

Dale Steyn played 93 Test matches for South Africa in his career. He got 439 scalps at an average of 22.95, including 26 five-wicket hauls and five ten-wicket match hauls. Unlucky Steyn was unable to pick wicket in his final Test match against Sri Lanka in Gqeberha in February 2019.

 

Dale Steyn was recently in the United States supporting his team South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 where Proteas created history by qualifying in the final for the first time in history of World Cup. However, Rohit Sharma-led India defeated them in the title decider by seven runs at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
