Gold medal winners in previous edition

India are currently the defending champions. In the Hangzhou Asian Games, they won the gold medal by beating Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the final.

However, after the defeat to Australia in must-win game. The head coach Amol Muzumdar had called for a change in approach in the format. It will be interesting to see if India batters show more intent to score freely, especially in the middle overs. After the Asian Games 2026, India's main target will be the ICC Champions Trophy 2027 which will be played in the T20 format.
