He does not name Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli.

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has selected a 30-year-old Australian star as the greatest all-format batter in the world right now, ignoring both Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and batting maestro Virat Kohli. Travis Head, who was on fire in the just-concluded five-match ODI series between England and Australia, is currently the strongest batter across formats, according to Karthik, who ended his two-decade-long career earlier this year.

With an undefeated 154 against England in the first match of the series, Head continued to be in excellent form and helped the Mitchell Marsh-led Australia team defeat Harry Brook & Co in five-match series by 3-2. Head was named Player of the Series for his incredible performance with both the bat and the ball.

Dinesh Karthik on Travis Head

"Have to say Travis Head is right in front of the pack. Yashasvi Jaiswal has batted really well; he hasn’t got too much of an opportunity in ODI cricket, so Travis Head at this moment I would say," Karthik said on Cricbuzz’s HeyCB with DK show when asked about the best all-format batter in world cricket right now.

Travis Head's exploits

Head, who did not play in the first half of the ODI World Cup last year, made a century against New Zealand in Dharamsala. He then hit 137 runs in the Ahmedabad final on November 19 to win the ODI World Cup for Pat Cummins & Co. by himself.

He signed with SRH for Rs 6.80 crore during the IPL 2024 auction last year, and after scoring 567 runs in 15 matches, he became the team's best scorer in the 17th season of the lucrative tournament.

The six-time ODI World Cup winners will next be seen playing at home against Pakistan in a series that starts next month. November 4–18 will see three ODI and three T20I matches between the Australians and Pakistan. Australia's five-match Test series against India will come after the white-ball series against Men in Green. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy for 2024–25 will begin with a series opener at Perth Stadium on November 22–26. The remaining four matches will be contested in Adelaide on December 6–10, Brisbane on December 14–18, Melbourne on December 26–30, and Sydney on January 3-07.
