Over the last decade, India and Pakistan faced each other only in white-ball ICC tournaments. Their last outing against each other came during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where Virat Kohli's unbeaten ton helped India to register a six-wicket win against the men in green.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were the host of the tournament, but it was played in a hybrid model after the Board of Control for Cricket in India denied sending a team to the neighbouring nation, citing players' safety. After BCCI's plea, ICC announced that India will play all their matches in Dubai, including the semifinal and final.
