'From being troll-ed to taking full con-trol': RCB reacts to their pace trio's selection in India's Test squad for Bangladesh

In the absence of Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep retained his place whereas left-arm pacer Yash Dayal made his way into the Test squad for Bangladesh series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on September 8 announced India’s squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh at home. As Mohammed Shami is yet to regain full fitness, Akash Deep retained his place in the side whereas Yash Dayal received his maiden call-up for the format. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) reacted to their pace trio including Mohammed Siraj making it to the squad. 
 

“From being troll-ed to taking full con-trol, the story of RCB’s pace attack is a true testament to Playing Bold!” RCB wrote on X.
 

“Go well in the Test series, gentlemen. Let menace, redemption and consistency define you!”

Numbers of RCB pace trio

Dayal bagged four wickets in the Duleep Trophy 2024 first round match for India B against India A. The left-arm pacer has played 24 First-Class games and bagged 76 wickets. He has bagged a fifer just once. 
 

27-year-old Akash was impressive for India A. He bagged nine wickets including a five-wicket haul in the second innings. He was part of the squad against England earlier this year. On his Test debut, he bagged three wickets. In First-Class cricket, he has 116 wickets from 32 games including five five-wicket hauls.

“If you get satisfied as a cricketer, you will never learn anything. As long as I have the hunger for learning, I can never be satisfied,” Akash told reporters after the match on September 8.
 

“Wickets and results are two different things; sometimes you will get the result, sometimes not. But, the most important thing is the process…like while bowling, which are the areas that can still be improved upon,” he added.

Meanwhile, Siraj has been an integral part of the bowling lineup. He has 74 wickets from 27 Tests so far including three fifers. He did not play in the first round of Duleep Trophy and was replaced by Navdeep Saini.
 

The Test series will begin on September 19. The first Test will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The second Test is scheduled to start on September 27 at Green Park, Kanpur.
