Seifert missed out on breaking record for highest score in CPL history.

Saint Lucia Kings' Kiwi opener Tim Seifert wreaked havoc against Antigua Barbuda Falcons as he smashed an unbeaten 53-ball 125 in the successful run chase of 205. At Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia, Seifert hit nine sixes and 10 fours to help the hosts chase down 205 with six wickets in hand and 13 balls to spare. Seifert reached his century from just 40 balls, the joint-highest in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) history.

The BlackCaps wicketkeeper-batter equalled Andre Russell's record for fastest century in CPL. Russell scored a 40-ball century for Jamaica Tallawahs against Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2018 edition.

Seifert’s unbeaten 125 is the highest score by a batter in a CPL run chase. The previous best of 121 not out belonged to Russell. Also, Seifert's unbeaten 125 is the highest score for St Lucia Kings. The record previously belonged to Faf du Plessis who scored 120 not out against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2021.

Seifert misses breaking CPL all-time record

However, Seifert missed out on breaking the record for highest individual score in CPL. It sill belongs to Brandon King. The opener scored an unbeaten 132 for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Barbados Tridents (now Barbados Royals) in 2019.

Later, Fabian Allen's unbeaten 17-ball 38 helped Antigua and Barbuda Falcons post 204/4/ The target would have been bigger for Kings had Odean Smith not played a slow knock of 11 from 15 deliveries. In the run chase, Seifert went berserk from the start. He nullified Shakib Al Hasan threat in the powerplay overs. By the time six overs were done, Seifert was already batting on 60 off 20 balls. Batters contributed with cameos from the other end. The 30-year-old reached his century in the 13th over. In the 18th over, Seifert hit Jayden Seales for a six to finish the run chase in style. His knock was studded with 10 fours and nine sixes.

“It was a great win, it puts us up in a great position in the points table. I try to take one game at a time, this is probably one of the better wickets in the CPL and I made the most of it. Charles put the bowlers under pressure upfront, we lost a couple of wickets but we were always ahead of the game,” ‘Player of the match’ Seifert said in the post-match presentation.
