The Delhi and District Cricket Association Director Shyam Sharma visited India's star wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, at the Max hospital in Dehradun, where the Delhi Capitals skipper was admitted after being involved in a brutal accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on the wee hours of Friday morning.
Earlier, it was reported that a team of the DDCA is on its way to the hospital in Dehradun to meet and monitor pant's health, Sharma had earlier told India Today that if required they will shift him to Delhi keeping BCCI in the loop with all their decisions. Having met Pant, Sharma shared an update on the 25-year-old and confirmed that the plans to airlift him to Delhi have been pushed to the back burner.
"He is smiling, he is confident. Moving him to treat his ligament injury is a decision that has to be taken by the BCCI. Jay Shah is in continuous touch with Rishabh and the doctors. He is not going to be shifted or airlifted anywhere," Sharma told the press after his team met with Pant.
Sports Tak had reported that Rishabh Pant was travelling from Delhi to Roorkee in his Mercedez when he met with an accident at the Narsan border near Mohammadpur Jhal. The Indian cricketer was first admitted to Roorkee's Saksham Hospital and then taken to MAX in Dehradun. Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar revealed what Pant told him during their brief conversation.
Sharma also had a conversation with Pant about what exactly happened on the night, "According to him, there was a hole in the road from which he was trying to escape. He had plastic surgery on his forehead as well.
When asked about his potential return to the field, Sharma put the onus on the BCCI's appointed panel of doctors. "His return to the field has to be decided by the doctors. All the doctors are in touch with the doctors of the BCCI. They are monitoring the situation closely."
